The outcome of the congress IBU
From 4 to 7 September in Prague, was the eighth Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), which determine the location of the 2012 world championships and the 2013's. As well as changes in the rules of the World Cup.

The changes also affected the rules of the World Cup:
Henceforth, the first 10 athletes finished the race, will receive prize money IBU. Until now it was the first eight. In addition, the modified system of charging points in World Cup races. Now the credits will be not 30, and 40 athletes. Moreover, increasing the importance of mass-start, because even in 30 th place gives 11 points.
It also increases the importance of winning and prizes, because the difference in scores, for example between the first and second, second and third place is now equal to 6 points. Until now it was 4 and 3, test item, respectively.
Manual IBU at the request of television, it was proposed to reduce the number of start in World Cup races, and, accordingly, reduce the broadcast time. But the proposal met with strong opposition to "small" federations, who risked all to be represented by one athlete. As a result, in a ratio of 70% against 30% proposal was not approved. This was deplored President IBU Andreas Besseberg, called on colleagues to think about the future prospects of biathlon.
Thus, the range of countries to participate in the World Cup no changes are made: the maximum number of athletes ranging from the 7-(1-3 places in the Cup of Nations) to 4 (the place with the 13th and below).
In starting the protocol will be racing the World Cup group 4. The last of them will be biathlete, below 81 th place in the current set-off the World Cup. In fact, the first dozen of the World Cup will be able to choose their groups randomly. At the same time (and this is another innovation) in the same starting group could not be more than three athletes of one country. So, I do not repeat the situation last year when, for example, Russia and Germany started compactly within a group.
